Methodology

How we research an account

A Competitive Displacement Report is public-record research assembled for one sales problem.

What qualifies as a primary opportunity

A district does not make the primary list merely because it uses a competitor. We look for additional evidence that makes the account actionable, such as visible spending, a dated purchase or renewal cycle, product compatibility, a board discussion, or another fact that gives a salesperson a reason to investigate now.

Sources

Research may use school-board packets, purchase orders, check registers, procurement portals, district policy and technology documents, vendor pricing pages, cooperative purchasing records, and other publicly accessible material. Sources are linked in the report when they support a material conclusion.

Uncertainty

Public records are inconsistent. One district may publish an exact annual price and contract term while another publishes only a purchase amount. We label what the source establishes, what it suggests, and what remains unknown.

Scope

The beta report covers one product or category in one U.S. state and contains five primary opportunities. Customers may supply up to three named competitors and optional account constraints.

What the report is for

The report supports prospecting and account planning. It is not legal, procurement, financial, or contracting advice, and it does not guarantee that a district will issue an opportunity or purchase a product.
